BETTY WHITE'S TOMATO PUDDING


Ingredients:

  • Boil together for five minutes:
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water pinch of salt
  • 1 can tomato puree (#1 can - 1 1/3 cup)
  • 11/2 cups fresh bread chunks
  • 1/4 pound butter

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350º F.
  • Put bread chunks in casserole dish. Melt butter and pour over bread. Cover this with tomato mixture.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until edges are brown.

This can be mixed ahead and re-heated.

Supposed to serve 6, but Betty White doubles the recipe and she says it always disappears.
