SPIRIT WOMAN
(Southwestern Indian)

She welcomes and leads the spirit into the spirit world -- walking in the trail of Beauty to a world of light, happiness, calm and joy.

SYMBOLS

1. Bird design interlocking coil - Used extensively in S.W. pottery design and petroglyphs, and means union of Earth and Heaven.

2. Female symbol, Mother Earth - The beginning and end of life, the nurturer, provider, protector. It is she to whom one searches for wisdom, walking in her path, the trail of Beauty. She also represents the marriage of Earth and Heaven.

3. Snake - Here represented as beneficent Earth Mother symbol -- regeneration, renewal, rebirth, guarding the spirit and directing the path to other worlds.
